Anything But Humble

I read the Sept. 20 Angel Falls article by Edmund Antrobus with a good deal of interest and amusement. Jimmy Angel was anything but humble and it was not iron ore he was after, it was the fabled “River of Gold.” Like another Jimmy--Doolittle--he was singularly misnamed. Angel was a hell-raising soldier of fortune whose calling card proclaimed the bearer to be available any time to fly anything anywhere.
Fatally bitten by a snake, was he? Jimmy may well have been bitten, but assuredly it would have been the snake that died.
Angel flew on for nearly two decades before an accident in Panama put an end to his extraordinary career.
