World Bank’s Key Role
It has been good to see your recent articles regarding the World Bank’s annual meeting. The World Bank plays a vital role in fighting hunger and poverty in Third World countries. Its president, Barber B. Conable Jr., has recently been urged by U.S. lawmakers and large numbers of Parliament members from Canada, Australia and Great Britain to “utilize the considerable resources of the bank in the battle against world poverty.” U.S. senators and representatives also called for substantial changes in the bank’s policies toward women, health care, adjustment lending, protecting the environment and poverty lending.
I invite readers to thank their representatives and senators who signed these letters.
