Second-Half Surge Lifts SDSU in Soccer

San Diego State scored four second-half goals to defeat Cal State Los Angeles, 4-0, in a nonconference men’s soccer match Friday at Los Angeles.
Kyle Whitemore scored his ninth goal of the season for the Aztecs (10-3), ranked No. 4 in the West. Curt Lewis, Chris Keenan and Pete Klaass also scored goals for SDSU. Cal State Los Angeles is 3-7.
In women’s soccer:
UCSD 6, Redlands 0--Susan Kramer had three goals, Heather Mauro had two and Felicia Faro added 3 assists as visiting UC San Diego shut out Redlands.
UCSD (9-1) recorded its eighth straight shutout. Goalie Julie Freiss has not allowed a goal since the second match of the season.
UCSD is second-ranked in NCAA Division III. It will play No. 4 Cortland State (N.Y.) Sunday at 4 p.m. at UCSD’s Warren Field.
