A triumvirate of leading Broadway producers announced plans to develop five shows featuring major stage stars in a series of nine-week, limited engagements. Masterminds Emmanuel Azenberg, Robert Whitehead and Roger Berlind plan to stage both new shows and revivals beginning January, 1989, at New York’s Ethel Barrymore Theater. Daily Variety reported that the Shubert Organization has pledged to pay some of the $10 million needed for the project.
