Two 29-year-old architects from Boston were named Monday as winners of a competition to design a civic center for the 3-year-old city of West Hollywood.
The proposal by architects Roger Sherman and Edmund W. Chang features an undulating portico along San Vicente Boulevard and a City Council chamber with glass walls and ceiling.
City officials said the plan will add 30% more parkland to the proposed site at West Hollywood Park, between Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard.
Critics, who fear the civic center would reduce the green space within the city, have threatened a lawsuit.
