Trabuco Hills’ Strong Start Beats San Clemente

Trabuco Hills High School scored touchdowns on its first three possessions Friday night in a 28-13 nonleague victory at San Clemente.
Senior quarterback John Barnes completed 11 of 17 passes for 223 yards and 3 touchdowns. His 14-yard pass to tight end Mark Barnes, along with Matt Davis’ extra point, gave Trabuco Hills (4-0) a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter.
The Tritons (2-2) tied the score on running back Kevin Harrison’s 11-yard run, but Trabuco Hills added two more first-quarter touchdowns to lead at the end of the first quarter, 20-7. John Barnes hit wide receiver Jeff Dooley with a 34-yard pass and running back Greg Sparks added a 10-yard run.
Trabuco Hills added to its lead in the second quarter on a 27-yard pass from John Barnes to Mark Barnes. John Barnes’ two-point conversion pass to Dooley made the score at halftime, 28-7.
Dooley led the Mustangs in receiving with four catches for 84 yards.
San Clemente scored in the fourth quarter on a four-yard run by quarterback Doug Dill.
