Cal State Fullerton, which has taken an early lead in the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. football standings, will play defending champion San Jose State at 1:30 p.m. today at Spartan Stadium in San Jose.
It will be the conference opener for the Spartans (3-1), who can claim the unofficial championship of the San Francisco Bay Area this season after defeating both California and Stanford.
Mike Perez, the Spartan quarterback who led the nation in total offense last year and is currently second with 1,183 yards in four games, is listed as probable after suffering a muscle strain in his right shoulder against Stanford last week.
Fullerton (2-2) has won two straight PCAA games, defeating Cal State Long Beach and Utah State, after opening the season with losses to Hawaii and Louisiana State.
