U.S. District Judge Robert Sweet has postponed until Oct. 14 a hearing, initially set for Sept. 2, over whether to remove from bankruptcy court the $2-billion dispute between LTV Corp. and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. The federal pension insurance agency sued last week to move the dispute, centering on three ailing LTV steel industry pension plans, out of U.S. Bankruptcy Court and into federal court. LTV, which is reorganizing under Chapter 11 of the federal Bankruptcy Code, is trying to overturn PBGC’s decision to return responsibility for the pension plans to LTV.
