SAN DIEGO — Kris Morton, an All-American member of the San Diego State volleyball team, has withdrawn from school for personal reasons, the athletic department said in a statement Thursday.
Morton, a junior from Springfield, Ore., was suspended from the team indefinitely two weeks ago, according to Sue Hegerle, assistant coach.
John Rosenthal, sports information director, said the university would not comment on Morton’s decision to leave school.
Morton, a 6-foot 4-inch middle blocker, could not be reached for comment.
Rudy Suwara, SDSU volleyball coach, said he did not know that the athletic department had announced Morton’s withdrawal and had no comment.
Morton played in SDSU’s first four matches before her suspension. The Aztecs are 5-7 this season, 3-5 since Morton was suspended.
