Mexico Police Chief Quits

MEXICO CITY — Police Chief Ramon Mota Sanchez has resigned for “personal reasons” after more than three years at his post, the official news agency Notimex reported Tuesday. Mota Sanchez, a career military officer, had implemented an extensive program to clean up the ranks and end corruption. His predecessor, Arturo Durazo, is imprisoned on charges of extortion and illegal arms possession.
