Nicaraguan elementary and high schools will make civil defense--including emergency action if a U.S. military force invades--part of the regular curriculum this year. The newspaper El Nuevo Diario said 720,000 youngsters will receive the training in the semester that begins next month on how to act during bombings, earthquakes, other natural disasters and wars. Deputy Education Minister Julian Corrales told the paper that the training will replace previous “superficial courses in civil defense” because of “the growing threat of an American military invasion.”
