Gardena : Trash-Collection Fee Raised

A two-year rate increase for residential trash pickup was approved Tuesday by the City Council.
Monthly rates of $6.25 charged by Browning Ferris Industries will be increased to $6.85, retroactive to July 1. In July, 1987, rates will increase to $7.12.
Homeowners will be charged the new trash collection fee on their annual property tax bills in December.
Browning Ferris Industries cited rising landfill and labor costs as reasons for the increase.
