GREENVILLE, N.C. — Five months before he committed suicide, Sen. John P. East prepared a will leaving an estate worth about $560,000 to his wife, court records show.
Documents filed with the will in Pitt County this month said East’s estate included $356,015 in personal property and $203,900 in real property. The will appointed East’s wife, Priscilla Sherk East, as administrator of the estate.
East, who signed the four-page, typewritten will on Jan. 9, died at his Greenville home June 29 of carbon monoxide poisoning. Authorities ruled the death suicide.
