Steve McCrory Stopped by Fenech in Title Bout

Australia’s Jeff Fenech dealt Olympic gold medalist Steve McCrory his first professional loss, scoring a TKO at 1:41 of the 14th round in Sydney to retain his International Boxing Federation bantamweight title.
McCrory (12-1), the younger brother of Milton McCrory, former World Boxing Council welterweight champion, had never fought more than 10 rounds and tired as the fight progressed.
The loss by McCrory, who fought as a flyweight in the Olympics, was only the second professional setback for the 12 members of the 1984 U.S. team, whose combined record is 114-2-3. The first was Henry Tillman’s loss to Philadelphian Bert Cooper in a heavyweight bout June 2.
