The Seattle Seahawks hired Russ Purnell, formerly of USC, as an assistant coach.
Purnell, 38, was fired as an assistant coach at USC last season for offering illegal recruiting inducements to Dan Quinn, who then decided to play at Notre Dame.
Purnell will be a Seahawk special-assignments coach.
