A Sepulveda home was heavily damaged Thursday in a fire caused by fireworks, “apparently a bottle rocket,” the Los Angeles city Fire Department reported.
The fire, reported at 2:04 p.m., burned the roof and attic of a house in the 9800 block of Orion Avenue and caused an estimated $77,000 damage, a department spokesman said.
Five engine companies and one water-dropping helicopter put out the blaze about 2:20 p.m. There were no injuries.
Bottle rockets--small, exploding skyrockets often launched from bottles--are illegal, but no citations were issued, the spokesman said.
