Comedian Richard Pryor sued a record company for $1 million, claiming that it failed to pay him proper advances and royalties on three albums. Pryor claims in the lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, that he signed a September, 1977, agreement giving Laff Records exclusive rights to three upcoming albums in return for $75,000 in advances and 24 cents for each album sold. Pryor claims Laff Records has not paid him all the money he is owed from the albums--”Who Me? I’m Not Him,” “Are You Serious?” and “Richard Pryor’s Greatest Hits.” Laff Records President Louis Drozen said Pryor’s claims are “entirely false.”
