Maywood : Chamber Awaits Charter
The Maywood Chamber of Commerce filed incorporation papers with the state last week and should be a chartered organization by the end of the year, Leslie Langlois, the newly elected board chairman, said.
A series of organizational meetings have been held since a drive to revive the chamber was launched in November. The chamber broke up in 1979 because of a lack of participation.
The chamber now has 129 members out of 470 businesses that operate in the city. Langlois said the first regular meeting of the chamber will be Jan. 7.
The organization also opened an office recently at the VFW Hall, 4621 E. Slauson Ave.
