Parade’s TV Ratings: “The Toys on Parade” drew an “average” TV rating that was slightly lower than last year’s figure, according to a researcher with KTLA, Channel 5, which broadcast the Dec. 7 event live in the Los Angeles-Orange County area. The parade, the only one on the West Coast that features balloon-type floats, drew a Nielsen rating of 3 with a 10% share and an Arbitron rating of 3.3 with a 12% share, KTLA researcher Frank Sinton said. The share figure is the percentage of television sets turned on during that time that were tuned in to the parade. The rating is a figure the services compile, based on such factors as audience age, location and gender. Last year, the parade drew a 3.9 rating and 12% share from Nielsen and 4.3 and 13% from Arbitron.
