Judy’s Inc., a clothing retailer based in Van Nuys, reported slightly increased earnings on 10% higher sales during its third quarter ended Oct. 31.
Net income was $360,000, or 16 cents a share, versus $347,000, or 15 cents a share, for the year-ago quarter. Revenue for the most recent quarter was $14.3 million.
Ben Sumner, the company’s vice president for finance, said the results were affected by eight new stores that the company opened this year. He said the outlets are bringing in more revenue for Judy’s but that the company also paid $99,000 in interest during the most recent quarter on loans taken to build the stores.
Judy’s operates 67 women’s clothing stores under its own name and 23 men’s stores under the GHQ name. It has outlets from California to Texas, Sumner said.
