LUXEMBOURG — Belgian veterans who fought under U.S. Gen. George S. Patton commemorated over the weekend the 40th anniversary of the death of the World War II commander. Patton died Dec. 21, 1945, in a car accident in West Germany.
A memorial service at Patton’s tomb at the Hamm military cemetery was also attended by Luxembourg Defense Minister Marc Fischbach and Jean Gerard, the U.S. ambassador to this tiny grand duchy wedged among Belgium, West Germany and France.
