U.S. Sen. Alan Cranston (D-Calif.) said he will push for a Senate investigation into the way 200 million doses of prescription drugs are illegally sold each year. At a news conference staged in front of a Los Angeles pharmacy that was shut down for alleged illegal drug sales, Cranston said that prescription forgeries, pharmacy thefts, shipment robberies and unethical doctors are responsible for much of the nation’s drug problem.
