An unidentified employee of a fast-food restaurant on the 5800 block of University Avenue in East San Diego was shot to death about 9 p.m. Saturday by a gunman wearing army fatigues.
The gunman apparently was attempting to rob the Take A Break restaurant when the employee was shot, a police spokesman said.
The gunman fled the restaurant and eluded police. No suspects were in custody by 10 p.m.
