A 44-year-old man was beaten to death by a group of unknown assailants outside his home about 11 p.m. Friday, police said.
A spokesman for the National City Police Department said that Delbert V. Culp and his wife, Virginia, had returned to their home on East 18th Street and noticed that their son’s ice cream truck, parked in their driveway, had been broken into.
While the they were searching around the truck, three men attacked Culp, beating him to death. The type of weapon or weapons used is not known, the spokesman said.
No suspects are in custody.
