Stephan’s Odyssey, runner-up in the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes, clung to life in Hialeah, Fla., as two veterinarians worked to clear up a blood clot in his left foreleg.
Trainer Woody Stephens said he would wait a few more days before deciding if surgery would be attempted or if the horse would be destroyed.
The 3-year-old colt broke a leg Sunday after working a half-mile over the Hialeah track.
