Does It Take an Athlete to Play Golf Like a Pro?

Letter writer Lanny Middings objects to “Arnie and Jack” being referred to as athletes. Not being a golfer myself, may I comment?
Either one of them could have beaten Babe Ruth in his prime, in a foot race to first base. But perhaps Middings is correct. Let’s stop calling golfers like Palmer and Nicklaus athletes . Let’s call them by their true identity--millionaires.
