Guild, Publisher Reach Tentative Pact

The Union-Tribune Publishing Co. and the San Diego Newspaper Guild have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, a spokesman for the guild said Friday.
The proposed contract calls for a pay increase over the next three years ultimately amounting to 15.3%. If ratified at a guild membership meeting Dec. 29, the contract will cover the 1,070 employees represented by the Newspaper Guild, the spokesman said.
The proposed contract also includes an additional annual holiday for employees.
The Newspaper Guild’s executive committee voted 10-5 to recommend approval of the contract, which would replace one that expired June 3. Employees have been working without a new contract since then.
