Jordan’s Brown Wins Top Lineman Honor

Dennis Brown of Jordan High School, who had 69 tackles and 15 sacks this season, was named Lineman of the Year in the South Coast area at the Los Angeles Times’ high school football awards brunch Sunday.
The Back of the Year was Andre Wooten of Cerritos, who rushed for 1,597 yards on 248 carries, an average of 6.4 yards.
Jerry Jaso and Thomas Whiting, co-head coaches at Poly High, shared the Coach of the Year award for directing Poly to an 11-1-1 record. The Jackrabbits tied Edison, 14-14, in the Big Five Conference championship game.
In the Southeast area, Tosh Nitta, who directed Bell High School to an 11-1 record and into the City Section CIF 2A finals, was named Coach of the Year.
