Boy Spends 40 Minutes Under Ice, Survives

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 9-year-old boy spent 40 minutes Tuesday trapped under the ice of a small pond but was pulled out alive--but in critical condition--from the frozen waters by firefighters.
Madison Township Fire Chief Bill Settles said the frigid water may have helped save Jeremy Ghiloni, noting that other people have lived after being submerged in cold water for as long as an hour.
