Developments in Nicaragua

Thank you for your editorial (Dec. 8), “Haunting Developments” on Nicaragua, and by extension El Salvador and the militarizaton of Honduras and Costa Rica.
This administration appears bound on a medium-to-big war in Central America. It ignores all foreign and domestic calls for scaling down the military activity. This is not to forget Cuban and Soviet interests there.
However, were we on the side of justice and peace, or appeared to be, they couldn’t present themselves as saviors to these long-oppressed people.
Your good words are appreciated. I doubt the administration will give them a moment’s thought.
