UC Irvine Men Win in Swimming, but Women Lose Against Hayward

The UC Irvine men’s swim team raised it record to 2-1 by defeating Cal State Hayward, 75-58, at Hayward Sunday afternoon.
Four Anteaters won two events: Senior Artie Williams won the 100 and 200 meter backstroke. Kurt Fuchs won the 100 and 200 freestyle, while Mauro Macchi won the 200 IM as well as the 500 free. Freshman Brain Pajer won the 100 and 200 breaststroke.
The women did not do as well, losing to the Pioneers, 80-53. Junior Melanie Reed was the lone double-winner, taking both the 50 and 100 free. Junior Lee McKinney won the 500 free and took second in the 100 backstroke.
