The New York Yankees have a filed a grievance with the Major League Players Assn. and the Player Relations Committee because of Don Baylor’s refusal to approve a trade to the Chicago White Sox, according to the New York Daily News.
The Yankees maintain that Baylor, in effect, relinquished his no-trade clause when he demanded that the Yankees trade him late last season, the story said.
The Yankees had planned to use Baylor, a designated hitter, to acquire Carlton Fisk, provided the White Sox sign the veteran catcher, who now is a free agent.
