A former Los Angeles Unified School District police officer was sentenced today to three years in state prison for the attempted rape of a mildly retarded 16-year-old female student in a storage room at Wilson High School last February.
Reuben Armando Gonzalez, 37, was found guilty last October of attempted rape and sexual battery by a Pasadena Superior Court jury. Prior to the February incident, Gonzalez had been under investigation three previous times by authorities for improper conduct with female students. The defendant, who faced a five-year maximum prison term, was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Coleman A. Swart.
