Taking office as executive director of the City of Hope on Jan. 1 will be Dr. Sanford M. Shapero, currently associate executive director. Shapero, 56, a gerontologist, has been a member of the medical center’s senior staff since 1979. He will be responsible for management of all administrative and fund-raising functions of the 72-year-old facility in Duarte. Shapero succeeds Ben Horowitz.
