The Region : Search Launched for Missing Irvine Boy

Irvine police launched a massive search for a an 8-year-old boy who failed to return home after school. Police Lt. Pat Rodgers said the boy was last seen leaving the Greentree Elementary School, about a mile from his home in the 4500 block of Ranchgrove Drive. The child is black, weighs about 60 pounds and is 4 feet, 1 inch tall. He was last seen wearing a blue down jacket, red shirt and blue corduroy pants with white tennis shoes. Rodgers said police officers, Explorer Scouts and Fire Department volunteers were helping in the search. Irvine police also enlisted the Costa Mesa Police Department helicopter.
