Police said that charred remains found in Inyo County are those of a man sought in the slaying of his former wife and former mother-in-law in the Los Angeles area. The remains were found in the burning wreckage of a 1978 Cadillac, which police said belonged to the man’s ex-wife and was used as a getaway car after the killings. Police said dental records show the body is that of Lawrence Spacone, 46. Spacone, a salesman for a Compton metal polishing firm, is a suspect in the shooting deaths of his former mother-in-law, Alpha Kath, 70, at her Lakewood home, and his former wife, Norma Kath Spacone, 42, in the parking lot of a restaurant in Wilmington. California Highway Patrol officials said they did not know the cause of the crash, which occurred on a winding mountain road.
