Stackle Selected Water Polo Player of Year

SAN DIEGO — Senior Kirk Stackle of Mt. Carmel High School, the San Diego Section water polo runner-up, has been named section player of the year, the Hall of Champions and Breitbard Foundation announced.

Mt. Carmel senior Scott Kovacs joined Stackle on the first team, and Sundevil junior Fred Gleason was named to the second team.

Also selected to the first team: junior Mike Allen of section champion Valhalla and seniors Rick Holdzkom and Rick Wurts of Mt. Miguel, Pat McInerny of Coronado and Mike Schatz of University.

Named to the second team: seniors Paul Prebble and Gary Blomberg of Poway, Dave Hovland of Coronado, Scott Madler of Crawford and Jason Lee of Helix, as well as junior Doug Sutherland of Valhalla.
