Kings Face Jets in Bid to End Winless Streak

WINNIPEG, Canada — Kings will try to snap a six-game winless streak tonight when they open a two-game set against the Winnipeg Jets.
The Kings (5-16-4) are seven points behind the fourth-place Jets (9-15-3) in the Smythe Division.
The Jets have struggled since trading defenseman Dave Babych to Hartford for right wing Ray Neufeld Nov. 20, compiling a 1-6-1 record during that span, and have been especially bothered by goaltending problems.
The Jets called up former U.S. Olympic goalie Marc Behrend from the minors Thursday night, and brought in head scout and goaltending consultant Les Binkley to work with Brian Hayward, the starting goalie. Last season, Hayward had a 33-17-7 record, but he is 5-10-2 this season with a 5.04 goals-against average and has been pulled in the first period of his last two games.
