Two Become Weinrick

I was very interested in your article concerning the choices of family names for children whose parents have different surnames.
We have another solution. My husband and I kept our last names, but chose to combine parts of them into a new name for our children. Meredith plus Weydemeyer became not a long hyphenated form, but simply Meremeyer. This solution has worked well because our children’s name is so ordinary looking. Moreover, the junk mail coming to our house provides constant amusement with new combinations of all our first and last names.
