A Huntington Beach woman who was severely burned in a house fire two months ago has died at UCI Medical Center, a spokeswoman for the center said.
Ima J. Hendley, 57, suffered second- and third-degree burns over 60% of her body when fire raced through her home on Amsterdam Drive.
She and her 2-year-old granddaughter were rescued from the burning structure by a passer-by who first took the child from Hendley’s arms, then returned and pushed Hendley from a window at the back of the house. Hendley’s granddaughter and daughter, who was also in the house, were treated for smoke inhalation.
Hendley, a retired nurse, was taken to the medical center by helicopter.
