Peggy Lee has been selected as president of the Cerritos-based ABC Unified School District Board of Education at the trustees’ annual reorganization meeting.
The seven-member board also selected Richard Arthur as vice president. Lee is serving her second four-year term as trustee. She was reelected last month. Arthur has served one term, having been elected in 1983.
During Monday’s meeting, the board also installed two newly elected members, Barbara Goul and Catherine Grant. They replaced William Watt, who retired, and Rodney Davis, who was defeated.
In other action, board members voted themselves a $50-per-meeting raise, from $50 to $100. The board, which meets twice a month, also set a $300 maximum that members can receive each month.
Under state law, a school board’s salary limit is tied to the average daily attendance in the district. The larger the district, the higher the salary school board members are permitted. ABC has more than 21,000 students.
The maximum monthly salary the ABC board is entitled to is $750.
