Rise N High Is Stripped of Purse From Inaugural
- Share via
Rise N High, a champion 4-year-old gelding, was stripped of the purse it won on November 5 at Los Alamitos Race Course by race stewards Tuesday.
The horse tested positive for a stimulant 10 days after he won the Inaugural Handicap.
Trainer Larry Kleve was informed by the stewards in a hearing Tuesday that the horse’s $18,575 purse would be awarded to Face In The Crowd.
Rise N High, 3-year-old gelding of the year for 1984 and a contender for the 1985 world championship, remains on the steward’s list, preventing him from racing at the course indefinitely.
Rise N High had qualified to run in the December 14 Champion of Champions but will not be allowed to run as long as he remains on the stewards’ list.
