AMERICAN LEGION : Reseda Moves Ahead With 6-5 Victory

Paris Sorianello drove in the winning run with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth inning Thursday to give Reseda a 6-5 win over Woodland Hills (West) in the American Legion District 20 playoffs at Birmingham High.
With the win in the double-elimination tournament, Reseda (2-0) qualifies for the 6th Area playoffs to be held July 31 to Aug. 4 at Cal State Northridge. But first, the team will play in the district championship game Sunday at Birmingham.
Brian Clancy earned his second win in two days by pitching 2 innings in relief.
Richie Tricarcio had three hits for Reseda.
Woodland Hills (West) (1-1) plays Reseda-Cleveland (1-1) this afternoon at 4:30.
Ray Cherney hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to lead Burbank to a 10-5 victory over Reseda-Cleveland.
Cherney had four hits and six runs batted in.
Eric Persson pitched 5 innings to earn the win. Burbank (1-1) plays North Hollywood (1-1) this afternoon at 1.
North Hollywood was credited with a win when Sun Valley (0-2) forfeited.
