U.S. Men Win in Basketball

TEL AVIV — Edward Zucker of the United States scored 30 points Wednesday to lead the men’s basketball team past Israel, 95-94, for the gold medal, closing the 12th Maccabiah Games.
The Americans led, 53-37, at the half and withstood a comeback by Israel, which was led by Adi Gordon’s 21 points.
The Games, which lasted nine days and ranged from badminton to rugby, were dominated by the Americans, who won 104 gold medals. Israel followed with 53, and Canada won 12.
Overall, the Americans won 235 medals, Israel 96 and Canada 48.
