U.S. Team Ties World Junior 400 Relay Mark

PULLMAN, Wash. — The U.S. men’s team tied the world junior record in the 400-meter relay with a time of 39.00 seconds Saturday as junior track stars from the United States, Canada, Japan and Mexico competed in an international track and field meet.
The U.S. relay team was led by Floyd Heard of Marshall High School in Milwaukee, Wis., followed by Leroy Burrell of Pennwood High in Lansdowne, Pa., Dennis Mitchell of the University of Florida and the anchor, John Simpson of Baylor College in Waco, Tex.
