Mubarak Meets With Ethiopian Leader

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak met Friday with Ethiopian leader Mengistu Haile Mariam and invited him for a state visit to Cairo.
“We have had a good relationship with Ethiopia since ancient times,” Mubarak said after a two-hour meeting with Mengistu, a Marxist. “We cannot let this relationship go in vain.”
No date was immediately set for Mengistu’s visit.
