A 20-year-old Turkish national was sentenced today to 16 years in state prison for the killing of Marshall Sowder, a retired Hollywood resident whose body has never been found.
Musa Has, who told authorities that he had been picked up on Hollywood Boulevard in the spring of 1984 by Sowder, 67, and eventually moved into his apartment, was sentenced on charges of voluntary manslaughter, forgery and fraud by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael A. Tynan. At the time of his arrest last fall, Has told authorities that Sowder had not yet returned from a Hawaiian vacation. But the man never appeared, and investigators found bloodstains in his living room and bedroom.
