One Southern California Gas Co. employee was fatally injured and two others were severely burned Thursday when they struck a buried high-voltage cable while drilling to locate a gas main in Glendale.
Police said the crew was working in the 200 block of North Isabel Street when the drill penetrated a Southern California Edison Co. cable vault.
One of the men died shortly after arrival at Glendale Adventist Medical Center. The other two were reported in good condition after treatment for electrical burns. Names of the victims were not released immediately.
