George Duvivier, Jazz Bassist, Dies

George Duvivier, a leading jazz bassist, died of cancer last week at his New York City home. He was 64.
Duvivier, who recorded with Frank Sinatra, Lena Horne and dozens of other top singers, was active in club dates, jazz festivals and studio work.
He played with the Jimmie Lunceford and Sy Oliver bands in the 1940s and later with Bud Powell and Terry Gibbs. A successful composer and arranger, Duvivier worked extensively in New York and Los Angeles.
