ASHLAND, Ky. — The General Electric Co. and plaintiffs in a civil suit accusing GE and other electrical manufacturers of liability in the 1977 Beverly Hills supper club fire that killed 165 people reached a settlement today, a federal judge told the jury.
Thirteen other defendants had reached settlements in the retrial, which began April 30. Although attorneys did not divulge the amount of the GE settlement, U.S. District Judge Henry R. Wilhoit Jr. said the settlements by all 14 defendants totaled $14.15 million.
